From December 9 to 13, a Brazilian delegation is visiting Riga to meet with representatives of the local government’s Department of Education, Culture and Sport and the management of the Education, Culture and Sport Committee to learn from the Latvian capital's experience in the field of education.
"This week a delegation of education professionals and teachers from Curitiba, Brazil, is visiting Riga to learn about the education ecosystem in the Latvian capital. During the week, the guests will visit educational institutions, meet with municipal management and education policy makers, share experiences and visit cultural attractions such as museums. Such international cooperation is essential as it promotes the exchange of new ideas, strengthens Riga's international profile as an educational and cultural centre, and opens up opportunities to improve the learning process by integrating best practices from around the world. Such exchanges are also an important platform to promote sustainable development in education, build long-term cooperation and inspire new initiatives that benefit our students, educators and decision-makers. I would like to say a big thank you to the teams of Riga Centre Humanities Secondary School, Riga English Gymnasium, Riga State Gymnasium No.3, Riga Valdis Zālītis Primary School and Riga Style and Fashion Technical School for hosting the guests and sharing their experience during this week," says Laima Geikina, Chair of the Education, Culture and Sports Committee.
The Brazilian delegation, consisting of 24 education professionals, visited Riga City Council, toured the City Hall and visited the Museum of Occupation.
In the coming days, the delegation is also scheduled to visit several schools in Riga municipality to exchange experience – Riga Centre Humanities Secondary School, Riga English Grammar School, Riga State 3rd Grammar School and Riga Valdis Zālītis Primary School. The delegation will also visit the Riga Style and Fashion Technical School, the Art Museum, Sigulda local government, and meet with the Saeima Education, Culture and Science Committee.
