On Saturday, February 25, for the second successive year, Latvian musicians will unite in a charity concert "For the Freedom of Ukraine!". It will take place from 12.00 to 17.00 in the square in front of the Riga Congress Centre. The concert is a voluntary cultural contribution to Ukraine, which is experiencing large-scale Russian military aggression. Music is a tool we can use to support Ukraine and its people, and protest against Russia's war being waged.
The first part of the concert "For the Freedom of Ukraine" will feature performances by the Riga Choirs and the Riga Orchestra, while the second part of the concert will feature Latvian musicians. The event will take place thanks to the initiative of musician Ralfs Eilands and the support of Riga City Council. The concert will be filmed and broadcast by LTV1, TV3 and TV24.
On February 24 and 25, from 11.00 to 21.00, a candle-making campaign organised by the Ukrainian-Latvian Friendship Association will take place in the square in front of the Riga Congress Centre. The Association will send the candles to the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front lines and to the civilian population of Ukraine.
Both on February 24 and 25, the façade of the Riga Congress Centre will be illuminated.
Continuing a tradition started in 2022, we invite you to create a candle route from Ukrainian Embassy to the Russian Embassy in memory of the fallen in Ukraine.
