From 27 February, it is forbidden for people to stay on the ice of water bodies and the coastal area water in the administrative territory of Riga.
Given the current weather conditions and meteorological forecasts, it is possible that the ice layer on water bodies in the administrative territory of Riga may not be sufficiently resistant and it may be dangerous to stay on it.
The period of increased danger on the ice of Riga's water bodies shall be determined by the Order of the Executive Director of Riga City Council. The Riga Municipal Police shall control the enforcement of this Order.
Liability for staying on ice is laid down in the Law on Administrative Penalties for Offences in the Field of Administration, Public Order, and Use of the Official Language. Violations are punishable by a warning or a fine of up to €100.
