Ukrainian and Latvian children and youth, who have declared their place of residence in Riga or attend one of educational institutions of Riga, are invited to choose one of the open camps during the autumn holidays, which are organised by non-governmental organisations and businessmen with funding from the state budget.
The purpose of the camps is to provide support for the socialisation and psycho-emotional well-being of Ukrainian children and youth, as well as practising the Latvian language and improving skills, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with Latvian children and youth in diverse creative events and educational activities in cultural education, environmental education, technical creativity, in sports, healthy lifestyle and safety issues.
The camps will involve equal numbers of children and young people of Ukraine and citizens of Latvia who are studying in Form 1 – 12 and are not older than 18 years of age. The camps will take place during the autumn holidays (23/10–29/10/2023) and offer both day and 24-hour options.
Registration for the camps will begin on 25 September at 10.00.
The list of current camps, contact information of the organisers, venues, planned programme, as well as instructions on the registration procedure have been published here.
Funding for the organisation of the camps has been provided by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of Riga City Council in cooperation with the State Educational Content Centre in the support programme "Support for Ukrainian and Latvian Children and Youth Camps".
