Riga local government invites everyone to welcome the New Year 2024 at six Old Town squares - to sing and dance celebrating the feeling of togetherness, and watching festive video projections.
The New Year celebration will take place in six squares in Old Riga - Riga Town Hall Square, Līvu Square, Pils Square, Kaļķu Street between Vaļņu Street and Aspazija Boulevard, the square by the Powder Tower, and the square by the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. The celebration programme will run from 21:00 to 02:00 at night.
Six popular DJs will delighted visitors with entertainment programme in each square playing back dance music of various styles. DJ Stocka will take care of fun in the Riga Town Hall Square, DJ Magnuss Eriņš will entertain visitors of the Līvu Square, DJ Aspirins will play back music in the square by the Powder Tower, and DJ Dubra will take care of good mood in the square by the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. DJ Roberts Lejasmeijers will perform at the intersection of Vaļņu and Kaļķu Streets, while MC Valdis Melderis will tirelessly provide a lively atmosphere at Pils Square. According to the festive mood, special festive video projections on the theme “Winter Tales”, especially created by artists Anna Meldrāja, Sandija Trautmane and Dāvis Kristaps Aigars, will be displayed on the facades of the buildings near the celebration squares.
Hot drinks and snacks will be available at the venues to keep visitors warm. Maps of New Year celebration venues will be placed in the Old Town so that everyone can find the right place to celebrate the New Year 2024 joyfully and successfully.
At the culmination of the event, before the clock strikes midnight, everyone will join together in a common countdown. The New Year 2024 will be marked with small pyrotechnic special effects that will delight young and old alike.
Local government calls the residents not to use pyrotechnic products during the celebration!
