Riga City Council has decided to donate 10 additional Mercedes-Benz buses of the municipal company “Rīgas satiksme” to help restore the public transport fleet of Ukraine’s capital city. In order to ensure that the buses are not empty on the road, the Municipality of Riga together with the charity foundation Ziedot.lv invite the residents of Riga to fill the buses with donations for the residents of Kyiv.

Deputy Chairman of the Riga City Council Edvards Ratnieks emphasises: “I invite the people of Riga and Latvia to fill the buses with much-needed items for both adults and children. I wish us all not to grow weary, but to continue to give, even if this winter is harder than ever because of energy prices. Christmas is a time for generosity and help. Donation points will be located at the shopping centres Spice and Akropole Alfa, as well as in the neighbourhood residents centres.”

Riga Vice Mayor Vilnis Ķirsis said that the municipality together with the company “Rīgas satiksme” will soon look for opportunities to find more buses that could be sent to Ukraine: “It was not easy to arrange an additional donation of 10 buses, but we are very pleased to be donating them for the second time.”

From 28 December to 30 December, people are invited to take part in the donation campaign “Riga for Kyiv” (Rīga-Kijivai) by donating food, household and hygiene items, as well as pet food.

Necessary donations:

  • Groceries: canned food, sugar, oil, salt, buckwheat, pearl-barley, pasta, maize, sweets, nuts, dried fruit, rusks, bread rings (baranka), powdered milk, instant coffee, tea, pour-overs (porridge, soups, etc.), bottled water, baby food (purees, formula milk, biscuits, juices). All food commodities should have a shelf life of at least 6 months.
  • Hygiene products: baby and adult diapers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower gel, soap, hand cream, toilet paper, baby wipes and wet wipes. Clothes and footwear for young children are also needed.
  • Pet food: dry pet food, canned pet food, animal care supplies (leashes, beds, animal litter, etc.).
  • Medical supplies: bandages, tourniquets, plasters, disinfectants, antiseptics, medical gloves.
  • Other necessary items: blankets, mattresses, sleeping bags, heaters, chargers, generators.

From 28 December to 30 December, everyone in Riga is invited to drop off donations at the following locations:

  • 28 December from 15:00 to 20:00 in Riga Town Hall Square;    
  • 29 December from 15:00 to 20:00 at the entrance B of the shopping centre AKROPOLE Alfa;
  • 30 December from 12:00 to 20:00 at the shopping centre Spice.

Those who are unable to bring their own donations are invited to donate money via Ziedot.lv – ziedot.lv/10autobusi. The donations will be used to buy the items needed to fill the buses.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Cultural Centre “Imanta” at 29 Anniņmuižas Boulevard and at the nearest neighbourhood residents centre in Riga:

  • 46 E. Smiļģa Street, Riga;
  • 6a Gobas Street, Riga;
  • 43a Ieriķu Street, Riga;
  • 31 Daugavpils Street, Riga;  
  • 36 Ziemeļblāzmas Street, room 402, Riga.

Donations will be accepted at the Culture Centre “Imanta”  and the neighbourhood residents centre at the following times:

  • 28 December from 13:00 to 17:00;
  • 29 December from 12:00 to 16:00;
  • 30 December from 10:00 to 13:00.

The buses with the donations will leave for Kyiv in mid-January.

Рига подарує Києву 10 автобусів; мешканців Риги запрошують взяти участь у благодійній кампанії

Ризька міська рада вирішила передати ще 10 автобусів громадського транспорту Mercedes-Benz муніципального підприємства «Rīgas satiksme» для допомоги у відновленні парку громадського транспорту столиці України.  Щоб автобуси не йшли порожніми в дорозі, Ризька міська рада спільно з фондом «Ziedot.lv» запрошують рижан наповнити їх пожертвами для киян.

 

З 28 по 30 грудня жителів Риги запрошують долучитися до благодійної акції «Рига-Киживай», надавши продукти харчування, предмети побуту та гігієни, а також корм для домашніх тварин.

Необхідні пожертви:

  • Продукти харчування – консерви, цукор, олія, сіль, гречка, крупи, макарони, кукурудза, цукерки, горіхи, сухофрукти, печиво, баранки, сухе молоко, кава розчинна, чай, вода питна бутильована, дитяче харчування (пюре, молочні суміші, печиво, соки).  Всі харчові продукти повинні мати мінімальний термін зберігання 6 місяців.
  • Засоби гігієни - дитячі та дорослі підгузки, зубна паста, зубні щітки, гель для душу, мило, креми для рук, туалетний папір, дитячі прокладки та вологі серветки.  Також потрібні дитячий одяг та взуття.
  • Корми для тварин - сухі корми для тварин, консерви, приналежності для догляду за тваринами (повідці, лежаки, підстилка тощо).
  • Товари медичного призначення – бинти, джгути, пластирі, дезінфікуючі засоби, антисептики, рукавички медичні.
  • Інші необхідні речі – ковдри, матраци, спальні мішки, обігрівачі, зарядні пристрої, генератори.

З 28 по 30 грудня кожного жителя Риги запрошують принести кошти, підготовлені для заправки автобусів, за адресою:

  •  28 грудня від  15.00 до  20.00 на Ратушній площі;
  •  29 грудня від  15.00 до  20.00 в ТЦ «AKROPOLE Alfa» вхід Б;
  •  30 грудня від  12.00 до  20.00 в ТЦ «Spice».

Пожертви також можна доставити в культурний центр «Imanta», Анниньмуйжас, 29, і в найближчий пункт Центру мешканців Ризького міського мікрорайону:

  •  вул. E. Смільгя, 46, Рига;
  •  вулиця Гобас 6а, Рига;
  •  вулиця Ієрікю 43а, Рига;
  •  вул. Даугавпілс, 31, Рига;
  •  вул. Зіемеблазмас, 36, офіс 402, Рига.

Пожертви прийматимуть у пунктах Культурного центру «Іманта» та мікрорайону у такі години:

  •  28 грудня від  13.00 до  17.00
  •  29 грудня від  12.00 до  16.00
  •  30 грудня від  10.00 до  13.00

 Пожертвувальні автобуси вирушать до Києва в середині січня 2023 року.
