As the weather turns colder and the snowfall increases, one can enjoy the winter in the capital not only at the cross-country skiing trails and tube sliding slopes, but also at the artificial ice skating rink. Equipment rental will also be available.
This Thursday, 8 December, the cross-country skiing trail at Lucavsala will be open, and during the weekend – the skiing trail at Uzvaras Park (15 Uzvaras Boulevard) and the artificial ice skating rink in Purvciems (141 Lielvārdes Street).
Equipment rental will also be available on a daily basis from 10.00 to 21.00.
On 10–11 December, the popular tube sliding slopes of Riga Snow Park (Rīgas Sniega parks) (in the area of the Grand Stage at Mežaparks), which will be managed by SIA “Žagarkalns”, will be open to visitors as well.
Riga Snow Park will be open only on Saturdays from 10.00 to 21.00 and on Sundays from 10.00 to 20.00.
On weekdays and weekends, you can also enjoy winter fun in Biķernieku Forest (16 Sergeja Eizenšteina Street) where a cross-country skiing trail has been built by VAS “CSSD” i.e. the Road Safety Directorate.
In December, if the weather conditions remain suitable, Riga Municipality plans to provide cross-country skiing opportunities for residents also in Purvciems (near Riga Secondary School No. 84) and Mežaparks (39 Kokneses Avenue).
Gradual preparatory work has been started in all these locations.
