Rīgai balva MIPIM

At the international immovable property and investment forum MIPIM, which is held in the French city of Cannes, Riga has received two awards from the prestigious publication Financial Times in its annual study “European Cities and Regions of the Future 2025” as one of the best investment destinations in Europe.

“Riga’s success in this international ranking confirms that we are on the right track, making our city an increasingly attractive destination for investment. The awards from the Financial Times for three consecutive years are an honour and a confirmation that Riga can provide a stable and attractive environment for long-term investments. We will continue to develop the investment climate, ensuring a competitive business environment, a highly qualified workforce and modern infrastructure,” highlights Vilnis Ķirsis, Chairman of the Riga City Council.

fDi Intelligence, a leading source of foreign direct investment information, has published its annual study European Cities and Regions of the Future 2025 that recognises Riga as one of the leading investment destinations in Europe and one of the top ten medium-sized European cities with an excellent foreign investment attraction strategy, demonstrating the city’s targeted efforts to attract and support foreign investors. Riga won two prestigious awards in the ranking:

  • Top 10 medium-sized European cities in the category “Human Capital and Lifestyle”;
  • Top 10 medium-sized European cities in the category “Strategy for Attracting Foreign Investment”.

The Riga Municipality participates with its stand at the world’s leading immovable property forum MIPIM, which takes place from 11 March to 14 March. A delegation from the capital’s municipality and companies, led by Riga Mayor Vilnis Ķirsis, has travelled to the forum to promote the city’s development.

On Tuesday, 11 March, the Chairman of the Riga City Council participated in the ceremony to receive the mentioned awards, in an expert discussion on the motivation to invest in the Baltics and in a meeting of political leaders. On Wednesday, 12 March, V. Ķirsis, together with the heads of the Vilnius and Helsinki municipalities, will participate in a discussion on the transformation of the housing supply in the Baltic Sea region and meet representatives of other city municipalities.

“These awards prove that Riga is a dynamic and attractive investment centre and a reliable partner for long-term investors. Our strategic approach to attracting investment has yielded results, and this international recognition strengthens Riga’s position as one of the region’s leading investment destinations,” says Fredis Bikovs, Director of the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency.
