This weekend, on 18 and 19 May, Riga will host its traditional Rimi Riga Marathon. During the event, road traffic in the city will be restricted or closed in a number of streets and on bridges over the Daugava. There will also be significant changes in a few public transport routes on Sunday, 19 May.
From 20:00 on Friday, 17 May, to 06:00 on Monday, 20 May, road traffic will be closed in the section of 11. novembra krastmala between Akmens Bridge and Muitas Street. During that same time, road traffic will be closed on the street parallel and adjacent to 11. novembra krastmala on its Old Town side, between Poļu gāte and JaunStreet.
If necessary, two-way traffic will be organised from 20:00 on Friday, 17 May, to 06:00 on Monday, 20 May in Doma Square and Pils Street. From 7:30 to 16:00 on Sunday, 19 May, there will also be two-way traffic organised in JaunStreet and Krāmu Street.

The Rimi Riga Marathon Kids’ Day event will take place from 9:00 to 15:00 on Saturday, 18 May, and from 10:00 to 11:00, there will be the DPD Mile race.
The DPD Mile race will follow the route: Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street – Lāčplēša Street – Brīvības Street – Brīvības Boulevard – Brīvības Square (finish).
The State Police will work with the Riga Municipal Police to stop vehicles and close the road traffic within that route between 9:40 and 11:00 on 18 May.
The Rimi Riga Marathon, Half Marathon, as well as the 10 km and 5 km races will take place between 7:00 and 17:00 on Sunday, 19 May.
The State Police and Riga Municipal Police will restrict and close the road traffic within the following routes between 06:30 and 17:00 on 19 May:
