This year, schools are launching the introduction of new, competence-based curricula and the provision of a qualitative education process, balanced with compliance with epidemiological requirements. These unusual challenges for school year 2020/2021 in Riga will have to be implemented in 108 general education schools, which will be attended by about 69,000 pupils, including about 6,900 first graders. About 7,000 teachers will work in the schools.
