1. An Orphan's court, in defending the property interests of a child or a person under guardianship (observing the type and extent of the restriction specified in the judgment of the court), shall decide on:
1. 1. I'm allowed to accept or reject the inheritance.
1.2. Sale of property at market value or auction.
1.3. The division of the succession, the alienation, pledging or encumbrance of the child's property (if the value does not exceed EUR 14 000) with other rights.
1.4. The disposal, pledging or encumbrance of immovable property belonging to the person under the auspices (if its value does not exceed EUR 14 000) with other rights.
1.5. The effectiveness of the disposal, pledging or encumbrance of immovable property (if its value exceeds EUR 14 000) with other rights of affairs.
1.6. Acquisition of property.
2. The Orphan's Court, in defending the property interests of the child:
2.1. Decide on the estate and the removal of the rights of the inheritance accruing to the child if the survived spouse administers or uses.
2.2. Decide on the dismissal of the parent from the management of the child's property, if the parent manages the child's property in an inappropriate manner with the interests of the child and takes other measures for the protection of property interests.
2.3. Appoint a guardian for entering into legal transactions between children and parents.
2.4. Take other measures to protect the property rights of the child.
3. An Orphan's court, in defending the property interests of a person under guardianship (observing the type and extent of the restriction specified in the judgment):
3.1. Follow that the trustee does not act with the property belonging to the person under the auspices without the permission of the Orphan's Court, if it is necessary in accordance with the law.
3.2. Check whether the trustee clarifies the opinion and will of the person under the auspices and manages the property in conformity with the interests of such person and the requirements of regulatory enactments.
3.3. Supervise the actions of the trustee in the performance of the duties of the trustee and in the cases provided for in the Civil Law, taking into account the type and extent of the restriction specified in the judgment of the court, allow the trustee to arrange transactions.

    3.1. Follow that the trustee does not act with the property belonging to the person under the auspices without the permission of the Orphan's Court, if it is necessary in accordance with the law.
    3.2. Check whether the trustee clarifies the opinion and will of the person under the auspices and manages the property in conformity with the interests of such person and the requirements of regulatory enactments.

    The person must produce a personal identification document.
    Required documents:
    1) an application with the requested request and the justification of the request;
    2) copies of the information supporting documents necessary for the examination of the case and indicated in the submission (presenting the original), in the opinion of the submitter, in particular the draft transaction document (draft contract).

    The Orphan's Court, on its own initiative, shall request and compile the documents necessary in the case in accordance with the matter to be examined, ascertain the opinion of the child, the person under guardianship, if necessary perform an examination of the immovable property. Documents which cannot be requested by the Orphan's Court shall be submitted to the lawful representatives of the child or the person under guardianship.
    Documents may be submitted in person, transmitted electronically (with a secure electronic signature) or by post.

  2. Receipt of services
    The decision shall be taken at the meeting of the Orphan's Court and shall be notified to the parties.
    The Orphan's Court shall draw up the decision in writing and send the transcript thereof to the participant in the administrative process within 10 working days after the taking of the decision. A true copy of the decision can also be received in person at the Riga Orphan's Court.
    Similarly, a decision/reply can be sent to a person by post, to an e-mail address or to the electronically agreed portal for national and municipal services in www.latvija.gov.lv.
